Hearing In Halloween Homicide Delayed

Posted

MT. PLEASANT, Mich (FOX 17) –

The Mt. Pleasant pastor accused of murdering a 24 year-old mother on Halloween was set to have his preliminary hearing Thursday morning.

Instead, Isabella County court administrator, Lance Dexter, says the attorneys met in a private conference to discuss how to move forward with the case. John White did not make a court appearance.

Detectives say Rebekah Gay was beaten and strangled October 31. Her body was later found in a ditch near her home in Mount Pleasant.

White is a pastor of a small church and has a lengthy criminal past with ties to West Michigan that include serving 12 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter.
