GRAND RAPIDS, Mich –

Organizers of the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot run in will mark the race’s 20th anniversary by moving the run to downtown Grand Rapids and having the finish inside Van Andel Arena.

The race raises money for athletics programs in the Grand Rapids Public Schools.

In the past, the run has been held at Cornerstone University. For 2012 and the 20th running of the race, the run will begin outside Van Andel Arena and end in a so-called “stadium finish” where the runners cross the finish line inside the arena.

The 5K run/walk course will run along Division Avenue, cross the Grand River on the 6th Street bridge, and direct runners back south along the river through Ah-Nab-Awen Park and back to the arena.

The event starts at 8 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, November 22, with the 5K start. A 1K Mini Trot begins at 8:40 a.m.

Registration is $25 in advance through November 21, $30 the day of the race.
