An unusually quiet period of November weather will continue through a busy weekend in West Michigan.

During a time that can often bring a combination of rain, snow, or wind, we’ll see fairly mild temperatures and a good deal of sunshine.  A few clouds may drift into the area Friday, but skies will remain partly sunny with seasonable high temperatures approaching 50°.  Average highs this time of year are in the upper 40s.

Saturday may again start with some areas of fog or perhaps some low cloud cover, but sunshine should return in the afternoon with temperatures getting back into the low 50s.  That pattern will persist into Sunday and Monday.

The only real chance of rain between now and Thanksgiving comes as a warm front moves in on Tuesday, but rain showers will generally remain light and scattered.  Then, even milder air looks to arrive, pushing highs into the low 60s for Thanksgiving Day.

Outdoor activities in West Michigan include the Santa Parade Saturday morning at 9:00 A.M.  The parade will travel Monroe Avenue in downtown Grand Rapids as temperatures climb through the 30s in the morning.  It will warm up a bit more by the time Founders Brewing opens for its 15th anniversary celebration at the taproom Saturday as well.

High school football teams around West Michigan will make their last stop before Ford Field, playing state semifinal games Saturday at 1:00 P.M.  Readings will climb into the low 50s during the afternoon, without much of a breeze to make it feel cooler.

In fact, that’s one of the most notable things about this weekend — despite a month known famously for the “gales of November,” winds will be very light over the next couple of days.
