HUDSONVILLE, Mich.-
After three summers in business, 7-year-old Maggie Hartman is really starting to see her flower stand operation grow.
The Hudsonville second grader has been setting up the stand outside her home and selling bouquets from her garden for $1 dollar each. Almost all of the money raised goes toward helping kids in need have presents for Christmas.
When we first featured her efforts on FOX 17 last October, she had raised more than $400 dollars to give back. After expanding the garden this year and making a few other upgrades, she managed to raise just over $1,100 thousand dollars.
“It was a no brainer. As soon as the spring broke, she was outside and ready to start getting planted,” said mom Jil Hartman. “Every time we go out to the garden, there’s enough for a few more bouquets, so we set them out and people buy them.”
Last year, Maggie was able to adopt a family of 11 for Christmas. She plans to adopt a family of six this year. Maggie will also be providing gifts for 50 kids through a Christmas Closet program.
Maggie and her mom have begun to document her efforts on Facebook. For more info, click here.
