A Walker teen was killed Thursday night when he was ejected from his car in a crash.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Van Buren Street about a 1/2 mile west of 48th Avenue in Blendon Township on reports of a single vehicle crash.

Responding officers discovered a 1992 Oldsmobile Delta 88 had left the roadway traveling eastbound and crashed into a tree on the northside of the road.

The driver, 17-year-old Patrick Michael Wiltse of Walker , was the only person in the vehicle.

Police say the teenager was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene by the Ottawa County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The preliminary investigation reveals the vehicle appears to have been traveling at a high rate of speed along Van Buren Street prior to the crash.  The particular area of Van Buren Street where the crash happened is a gravel roadway.

Investigators say toxicology results will help determine whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
