Police in Kalamazoo County are investigating an alleged parental kidnapping, after two children were taken from their school Monday afternoon.

Officers were contacted by the staff at Martin Luther King Elementary around 4 o’clock. Police say the employees told them at a 6-year-old and 9-year-old boy had been taken from the school by their non-custodial parent, identified as Anthony Bloodworth, 41, without any authorization. The staff was able to provide a physical description of the suspect, which helped officers locate him and the 2 at a home on Woodward about 40 minutes later.

The children were not hurt and were returned to their custodial parent. The suspect was taken into custody and lodged at the County Jail.

The case is now being forwarded to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s office to determine what charges may be filed in the case.
