A child riding a bicycle is in critical condition after being struck by a minivan Tuesday evening.
The incident happened just before 6:00 p.m. The victim is a 10-year-old from Park Township, Mich., near Holland.
The driver of the Plymouth minivan that struck the child was identified as Kathryn Perkins, 45.
The child allegedly swerved into her lane after leaving a friend’s house. Perkins was traveling east near Riley Street and 160th Avenue in Ottawa County.
The child apparently was wearing dark clothing and didn’t stop at the end of a driveway to get into the bike lane.
Perkins didn’t see the child until it was too late.
