KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich.

New dash cam video is shedding light on what happened the night Portage police busted a Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputy for allegedly driving drunk.

April Barfoot was found in an empty bank parking lot with her door open and car running just after 2 a.m. on November 15th. Barfoot, who was off-duty at the time, told police that she was feeling sick.

Police spoke to Barfoot for several minutes as she sat in the car. During that time she did admit she’d been drinking “a little bit”.  Officers later helped the deputy out of the car, where she refused to take any field sobriety tests. Barfoot instead asked to call an attorney.

The 34-year-old deputy is facing a charge of “Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated” first offense.

Barfoot is due in court for a pre-trial hearing on November 29th.
