GR Man Receiving Death Threats For Flying Flag Upside Down

A Grand Rapids man tells FOX 17 he’ll continue flying the American flag in his front yard upside down in protest of the Obama administration and the current state of the United States government, despite protests from his neighbors and numerous death threats.

The man, who lives near the corner of Fuller and Plainfield on the northeast side of the city, says he’s simply exercising his First Amendment right.

Neighbors tell FOX 17 that many people living on the street are veterans and call the display “a desecration” and disrespectful to their service to the country.

According to the United States Code, Title 4, Chapter 1, and Section 8, the flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
