GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –  Robert Munsell is accused of murder in the death of Julie Blank-Danielson.  Police said they found the body of Danielson  in the basement of her home.

FOX 17 has learned after the alleged crime was committed, Munsell paid a visit to his ex-girlfriend, Dorothy Wilson’s home.

Wilson said she had a nine year relationship with Munsell.  The two have a nine-year-old son together.  Wilson said she broke off the relationship when she found out Munsell was seeing Danielson.

According to Wilson, Munsell does have a violent side.  In 2008 Wilson filed domestic violence charges against him.  According to court documents, Munsell entered a guilty plea and was ordered to pay court costs and perform community service.

Besides sharing custody of their nine-year-old on the weekends, Wilson said she hardly ever saw Munsell, so when he showed up at her Grand Rapids home covered in blood she had no idea what was going on.

Wilson said Munsell claimed he was bloody after getting into a fight with another man.  She said he made no mention of Julie Blank-Danielson’s death.

She told us she was shocked by his appearance, “So we let him in and walked out in the hallway and he was covered in blood and all he was saying was where is my son?  Where is my son? And then he did say that he needed to call 911.”

Wilson said she was there as he called police just before 4am on Sunday morning.  She said police came to her house and took Munsell into custody just after 8am.  According to the Montcalm County Sheriff, Munsell would confess to slitting the throat of Danielson and then gave her a hug, which would explain why he was covered in blood.

Munsell is currently in the Montcalm County Jail awaiting his next court date.
