GOBLES, Mich. A military father in Gobles is missing something that can never be replaced after thieves broke into his home last week.
Joe Courtney had been in the process of moving out of his recently foreclosed home when thieves broke in and went through his packed up possessions.
Courtney told FOX 17 News they stole antiques, odds and ends, and precious memories of his marine son Gregory. He was killed on September 16, 2011 in a car crash, one month after returning home from Afghanistan.
The thieves took thousands of pictures, two cameras and video that Gregory had recorded while serving.
“It’s all memories, memories I cannot replace no more,” said Courtney. “I can’t take more pics and re-do them, my son’s passed away these are just things I must have.”
Courtney continues to move out of his Allegan County home, but he’s refusing to move on without the memories. He’s taken out an ad in the local paper asking for the pictures back.
“That’s all I care about,” he said. “I just didn’t want someone to get rid of it.”
