Ohio State got a win over rival Michigan, and capped off a perfect 12-0 season.

The Buckeyes could have been playing for a national championship, but are riding out a post-season ban handed down by the NCAA for past violations.

OSU beat Michigan 26-21 on Saturday in Columbus in Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer’s first win as head coach at the university.

“It will go down as one of the great teams in Ohio State history,” Meyer said.

The Buckeyes finish Big Ten play 8-0, clinching the Leaders Division. However, along with the NCAA rules sanctions they cannot play in next Saturday’s Big Ten Championship.

Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson finished the game with 122 yards on 10 carries – a low for the Wolverines leader.

Devin Gardner, who also filled in at QB for Michigan, was 11 of 20 for 171 yards. Gardner also threw an interception, and connected with Roy Roundtree on a 75-yard touchdown.

Michigan, previously ranked 19th in BCS standings, finishes the regular season 8-4, 6-2 in Big Ten play.
