GRAND RAPIDS, Mich –

Crews were on the scene at Zondervan Tuesday morning, investigating an incident. Hazmat crews were on standby.

They were called to the company on Patterson Avenue at 52nd Street SE around 8 a.m.

The Kent County Sheriff Department at Zondervan told Fox 17 News that a Zondervan employee in the mail room opened a package and found a suspicious substance accompanied by a note. The writing in the package indicated that the substance might be dangerous.

When the authorities arrived on the scene they found that the substance was not chemical or dangerous.

About five years ago, a similar incident occurred at the publishing company. The FBI has stepped in and is now in control of the investigation into the suspicious package.
