WAYLAND, Mich. – Police officers with The West Michigan Enforcement Team said an attorney turned his law office into a meth lab.
The attorney along with two others have been charged for making and selling meth.
The law office of Patrick Burson is just a couple doors down from Wayland City Hall and the Wayland Police Station.
On June 13th police raided the office and said they found evidence of a working meth lab. Police then handed that evidence over to the Michigan Attorney General.
On Wednesday, that evidence was enough for the prosecutor to bring four charges of operating a meth lab against 25 year old Patrick Burson. Police said each charge has a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted.
The attorney was also charged with two counts of meth possession.
Police also raided Burson’s mobile home in Ostego Township in connection with this investigation. Police said they found another working meth lab at that home.
The investigation also resulted in charges against two women.
Polly Gates, who police said was Burson’s girlfriend was also charged with four counts of operating a meth lab, two counts of possession and an additional meth delivery charge.
The law office secretary, Sherry Cunningham, was also charged with possession.
All three were released on bond, according to officials at the Allegan County Jail. They are expected back in court in early December.
