GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-

The city of Grand Rapids will light their annual Christmas tree tonight in front of the Grand Rapids Art Museum. The blue spruce will have over 40,000 lights.

The celebration starts with the tree lighting at 5:30 Friday. Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell will be there to welcome the city after the lighting.

Following the lighting, Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink will open to the public for the season. Tonight also includes free horse-drawn carriage rides and events inside the museum.
