Davenport Men’s Basketball Overcomes Slow Start, Downs Lourdes

Davenport’s men’s basketball team found itself down 10, 21-11, with 6 minutes left in the first half, but the Panthers ran off 13 consecutive points and dominated the 2nd half for a 76-57 win on Saturday.  DU improves to 4-0 in WHAC play and 8-1 overall, they were led by freshman forward Dominez Burnett (Flint Northwestern) with 22 points and junior guard JaVontae Ford (Forest Hills Northern) with 19.

The Panthers played their 2nd straight game without starting senior guard Gabe VanderJagt (Rockford) who bruised his foot in the game against Cornerstone last week.

Madonna lost at Concordia (72-69) today, meaning Davenport is now the lone unbeaten in conference play, Madonna, Cornserstone and Indiana Tech are all 3-1.  Cornerstone won at Marygrove, 80-71, there only conference loss this season came at Davenport, 91-85 on November 20.

Davenport will play at Siena Heights on Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
