Michigan Headed to Outback Bowl

Posted

The Michigan Wolverines will be playing in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day.

The Wolverines will likely face SEC powerhouse South Carolina.

Michigan officially accepted an invitation to the Outback Bowl on Sunday afternoon. The Wolverines finished the regular season 8-4 with losses to top-ranked teams like Notre Dame, Alabama and Ohio State.

“We are excited to represent the Big Ten in the Outback Bowl,” said head football coach Brady Hoke. “The Outback Bowl organization and those associated with the Tampa community run an outstanding bowl game. They made my final game as an assistant coach at Michigan (in 2002) a very enjoyable and memorable experience. The SEC is an excellent conference and we look forward to the challenge of facing them on New Year’s Day.”

South Carolina was 10-2 this season with losses to LSU and Florida.

The game is a 1pm kickoff and will be televised on ESPN.
