Portage Student Pulls Knife On Police

PORTAGE Mich – Administrators at Portage Northern High School and police were investigating a student displaying strange behavior when suddenly the student pulled a knife on a on-site Portage Public Safety officer.

The officer was forced to subdue the student with a taser. The student was quickly secured and arrested on charges of felonious assault and assaulting a police officer.

The 17-year-old student was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.

There were no injuries to staff or students during the incident and the school administration is continuing to work closely with the Portage Department of Public Safety.
