College Students Arrested In WMU Armed Robbery Cases

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Three people have been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies that happened at Western Michigan Universities (WMU) main campus.

The suspects were arrested after a purse snatching incident at a Wal-Mart on South 9th Avenue in Oshtemo Township. They fled from the scene in a vehicle and were chased by police. The suspects crashed the vehicle and fled on foot. Police were able to arrest them at the scene.

The suspects are identified as Ryan Donnell Hattaway, 20, Jocelyn LeShawn Walker, 18, Antoine Bernard Cantrell, 19.

The three are college students, Walker attends WMU, the other two attend Kalamazoo Valley Community College. The students are originally from the east side of Michigan.

The men were arraigned this afternoon. Walker is held on $5,000 bond, the others $150,000.

Detectives from the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department and WMU Public Safety interviewed the suspects and they admitted to the crimes.
