LANSING, Mich.– While the Right to Work legislation has dominated the headlines the past several days, lawmakers in Lansing have been busy passing more bills in the lame duck session.

Some of the more notable ones approved Thursday night, include Kelsey’s Law. The bill prohibits teen drivers ages 16 years and younger from using cell phones while driving.

The House panel also approved Michigan gun owners, with extra training, to carry concealed weapons in schools. Gun owners with permits could get additional training that would allow them to carry their guns in “Gun Free” zones.

A revised emergency manager law is headed to Governor Rick Snyder’s desk. The Senate Bill gives more options to local governments in a financial crisis.

Another controversial bill that passed allows hunters to go after gray wolves for sport.

Friday morning, Governor Snyder’s office released several statements regarding the Michigan Legislature’s completion of its 2012 session.

“I appreciate the hard work and partnership of House and Senate members this year,” said Governor Snyder. “Many significant reforms were enacted that will provide for a safer, healthier and more prosperous future for all residents and will be instrumental in continuing Michigan’s comeback and creating more and better jobs.”

The House meets for it’s next session on December 27th.
