PAW PAW TOWNSHIP, Mich – Deputies seized more than $3,000 and some marijuana from two men following a traffic stop.

Around 1:35 on Thursday afternoon, deputies with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department pulled over a car at the 61.6 mile marker of I-94 near Paw Paw. They smelled pot, and the two men in the car, both from Detroit, were not being cooperative.

An additional deputy came to the scene along with his police dog partner Goliath, who sniffed the area and found the possibility of drugs in the car.

When the deputies performed a search, they found marijuana and $3,000 in cash. The driver was arrested for possession of pot, but the passenger was released pending further investigation.

The money was seized under drug forfeiture laws.

The case now goes to the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
