HOLLAND, Mich. – A woman kicked a man who was trying to rob her with a knife in a Meijer parking lot early Christmas Eve. The incident scared the man away.

Police said the robbery attempt happened around 8:45 a.m. Monday. According to police reports the woman was getting out of her car when the robber, who was armed with a utility knife, told her to get back in the car.

After being ordered back in the car, she kicked him. In the process, she was cut by the knife but did not require medical attention.

Another report of an armed robbery occurred very close to this incident, police say it happened in the same parking lot.

Around 10:40 a.m., the suspect returned to the Meijer parking lot. That’s when police took the 45-year-old man into custody. Police said they also found the man’s vehicle and evidence in the case.
