NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. –The first day back from Christmas break was difficult for students at Central Montcalm Middle School. Many of them learned that their former classmate and 8th-grader, 13 year old Dayzi Georgiades, died Sunday in an auto accident.

“My whole family was devastated because she was pretty much family with us.” Autumn Yeasley said.

Dayzi was with her mother and brother in Newaygo County on Sunday, friends said, when word from police is that a car heading westbound on 120th Street in Ensley Township, lost control, crossing over the centerline hitting Georgiades and her family, heading eastbound.

Dayzi died while her mother and brother were sent to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital.

Dayzi’s friends said that her brother suffered broken wrists, while hospital officials said her mother was listed in serious condition Monday night.

According to Dayzi’s friends, the teen had moved to Grant over break and was supposed to start school there on Monday.

“She was just so amazing and her personality was just so special and different, like everyone loved her.” Tayler Court said.

The energetic teen loved alternative type music and loved playing volleyball, friends added.

“Dayzi always had, like a bubbly personality and she was always happy and she knew how to cheer people up if they were down and it’s just going to be different without her here.” Kenzie Greenhoe said.

A counselor was on hand at Central Montcalm all day on Monday and will continue to be made available, according to the principal. Funeral arrangements for Dayzi are being handled through Hurst Funeral Home in Greenville, Mich.
