Slushy Snow Friday Morning

Posted

WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — A burst of snow Friday morning ahead of a warm front could make things a little messy here in West Michigan.

The image shows the forecast snow amounts from our in-house computer model. The higher totals to the northwest are due to a little help from Lake Michigan. Winds will be from the southwest, adding a little more moisture to the system in those areas.

After the snow ends Friday afternoon, we’ll have a couple of mild days. In fact, by Saturday, I am forecasting high temperatures to be at or above 40 degrees.

The mild air won’t last, however. A strong push of cold air arrives Saturday night and continues into next week. Because the water temperature of Lake Michigan is still relatively mild, there could be some heavy snows in the lake-effect areas.
