Tech Tuesday: Ski and Snowboard Apps

Posted

Casey Cochran from Imperial Computer Solutions is showcasing three apps that skiers and snowboarders will find helpful and entertaining. “Ski and Snow Report” lets you keep track of how much snow your favorite resorts are getting, showing you weather conditions and how deep the base is. You can even look at live weather cams on the mountain.
“Ski Trailmaps” is an app that does the same thing, but allows you to download trailmaps on your phone and store them on your SD card, allowing you to use the app without a cell connection.
“Satski” is the best of the bunch. It uses 3D mapping and GPS data to record your runs, telling you where you went on the mountain, while recording speed and altitude changes. You can even track your friends on the mountain. For $10, this app does things which used to require a $100 stand-alone device. It’s well worth it for bragging rights on the hill.
