WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — Lake-effect snow is getting heavy this afternoon, making for some tough travel conditions across West Michigan. This image shows LIVE FOX 17 radar. Some heavy snow is occurring in Allegan, Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon Counties. Additional accumulations in these areas will be 4 to 6 inches, on top of the 6 to 8 inches that has already fallen.
Since temperatures have warmed, the snowflakes are a lot larger. However, the “warmer” temperatures are also making the chemicals used to treat the roads much more effective.
Most of West Michigan is under a lake-effect snow advisory until Midnight. I’ll have the complete forecast starting at 5 on FOX 17 News, or anytime at http://www.fox17online.com/weather
