KENTWOOD, Mich. — Javonte Higgins, the main suspect in the Kentwood double murder of David and Vivian Bouwman, ignored the judge during a hearing and was sent back to jail without bond.

The Kentwood Police Department was informed of the hearing on Wednesday.

According to a news release, Higgins refused to acknowledge the judge in the Illinois courtroom, and was remanded to jail without bond.

The Kent County Prosecutor’s Office will now be putting together a request for a governor’s warrant.  It will be sent to Lansing and then eventually to Illinois.  If the warrant is granted, HIggins will be arraigned, but he would be able to contest the document.

If the court is satisfied that police are focusing on the right suspect in Higgins, then he would be turned over for extradition to Michigan.  Another hearing has been set for February 20.
