GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Lake-effect snow will continue during the day Wednesday, and it will likely become more widespread and create additional problems for the afternoon commute around West Michigan.
Despite a lull in the snow for many areas early this morning, an upper-level disturbance will swing into the Great Lakes later Wednesday and create conditions more conducive for snow to intensify and spread inland. As winds shift, more of the area will pick up some new snow accumulation, including metro Grand Rapids.
Areas south and southeast of Grand Rapids may also see a burst of new snow during this time, including Hastings, Kalamazoo, and Battle Creek.
