GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A band of snow showers will continue to move out of most of West Michigan this afternoon, while some lake-effect and lake-enhanced snow starts to impact a few locations more heavily through the rest of the day.

Snow accumulation has been minimal so far around the majority of the area, although as the above picture shows from FOX 17 reporter Nicole DiDonato, a light coating of snow has made for slick conditions in a few areas.

For the rest of the day, most inland locations will only see a few spotty snow showers through the afternoon.  However, as the below radar image shows, a band of lake-enhanced snow has been developing this morning and will continue to move onshore across lakeshore areas north of Muskegon.  Much of Muskegon, Oceana, and Mason counties, along with western parts of Newaygo and Lake counties, may pick up two to four inches of new snow by this evening.

As we move into the evening, winds will shift to the west and slide that band onshore temporarily, as the below forecast from FOX 17 Future Track HD indicates:

That band may leave a quick one to three inches of accumulation before tapering off overnight and Saturday morning.  Total accumulations will likely range from two to five inches near the lakeshore, tapering off to no more than an inch or two from U.S. 131 to the east.

Weather will be improving substantially over the weekend, until the next system arrives late in the day Sunday.  For more on that, watch FOX 17 News Friday evening or check out the 7 Day Forecast on the Weather page.
