MARSHALL TOWNSHIP, Mich — Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputies found a meth lab in a home in the 17000 block of 15 Mile Road after receiving an anonymous tip and getting a search warrant.

When they entered the home just before 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, the family’s pit bull bit a deputy in the arm, who was then treated at Oaklawn Hospital and released with minor injuries.

The 48-year-old homeowner was at the house, along with two women and a three-year-old child. Subsequently, deputies called Child Protective Services, who then took the three-year-old from the home.

Because of the heavy fumes in the house, deputies had to wear protective gear when collecting evidence. In addition, Michigan State Police, the Albion Department of Public Safety, the Homer Police Department and the Marshall Township Fire Department were also at the scene.

At last check, no arrests have been made, but deputies are seeking an arrest warrant for the homeowner for Manufacturing and Delivering Methamphetamine.
