Muskegon- Mich, For the past six years, a bakery in Muskegon County has been taking a sweet approach to predicting the winner of the Super Bowl.
Ryke’s Bakery on Laketon Avenue, sells team-themed cookies, and whichever baked good sells the most is predicted to win the big football game. This year, Ryke’s tells us they sold 386 Ravens cookies, over 293 cookies featuring the San Franciso 49ers.
Ryke’s got a bit of a surprise this year during their cookie event. About half-way through the contest, they found out from the NFL that they were using the phrase ‘super bowl’ without permission. The bakery held a vote to pick a new name for their contest. This year they decided on the “Ultimate Cookie SmackDown-Get Ready to Crumble”. The phrase was submitted by Amber Flynn who won a dozen of the special cookies.
