GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two people were injured — one of them seriously — during a head-on crash amid icy road conditions Saturday afternoon.

At 3:28 p.m. Saturday, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle head-on accident with injuries on 44th Street at Regal Drive in Georgetown Township. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found that Alexandria Norris, 18, of Jenison had been eastbound on 44th when she lost control on the icy roadway, her vehicle crossed several lanes of traffic and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Christina Helseo, 23, of Hudsonville head-on.

Helseo was pinned in her vehicle. The Georgetown Township Fire Department removed sections of her car to extricate her. She was transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where she was listed in serious condition Sunday.

Norris was transported to Metro Hospital where she was listed in stable condition Sunday.

Forty-fourth was shut down for approximately one hour for the safety of emergency personnel.
