GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – Officials are monitoring the Grand River at Robinson Township due to an ice jam.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management, water levels in the river have risen significantly over the past 24 hours.

On Monday, levels began at 11.9. By the end of the day, those levels had risen to 12.5. And by Tuesday, they reached a 13.5.

Officials said the situation could be remedied soon as it appears the ice is filling in downstream while the river levels upstream are falling.

Those who experience flooding issues in the area are asked to call their local town hall.
