MADISON, Wis. — Michigan was 2.4 seconds away from a big conference road win, but then Wisconsin’s Ben Brust hit a half-court buzzer-beater to force overtime and the Badgers topped the Wolverines in the extra frame 65-62.

Tim Hardaway Jr. had 18 points and hit what seemed to be a game-winning three with 2.4 seconds left in the second half to Michigan up 60-57. But freshman Chris LeVert did not follow head coach John Beilein’s instructions and did not foul Brust as soon as he took the inbounds pass just shy of the half-court line. Brust took one dribble and launched a desperation shot from just inside midcourt that hit nothing but net as time expired. Michigan had two fouls to give.

In overtime, Burst hit another three-pointer with less than 40 seconds left in overtime to put the Badgers up 65-62. Michigan’s Trey Burke had one last chance to tie the game, but his three-point shot went got halfway down before bouncing out and the fans at the Kohl Center stormed the court as time expired in overtime.

Michigan has lost 11 straight in Madison and has never beaten Badgers head coach Bo Ryan in Wisconsin.

Burke led all scorers with 19 off 21 shots. Brust led the Badgers with 14 while Jared Berggren added 13 points along with 8 rebounds.

Michigan is now 21-3 (8-3 Big Ten) while Wisconsin improves to 17-7 (8-3 Big Ten).
