WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — After a burst of heavy snow with strong winds created some hazardous driving conditions during the evening commute Monday, it appears the snow is tapering off, and the wind is not nearly as strong as well.

This image is from FOX 17 Doppler radar. It continues to show the snow showers are weakening. Some areas picked up a quick one to three inches of snow earlier this evening, and there were many reports of slide-offs and accidents.

The winds too are starting to die down. After peak gusts earlier of nearly 50 miles per hour, most areas have winds sustained around 20 miles per hour with gusts to 30 miles per hour as of 8:30PM.

The next couple of days look to be quiet, before another blast of Arctic air moves in later this week. I’ll have more on the forecast tonight on FOX 17 News at 10, or you can visit the website at http://www.fox17online.com/weather
