ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. – Priceless Items for the father of a war veteran have been returned to an Allegan County man after his house was broken into back in November.

Joseph Courtney lost more than material belongings that night. He lost memories of his Marine son, who recently died in a car crash.

Among the items stolen, were a home video, a video camera and his son’s Marine duty pack.  Courtney says an Allegan County deputy came to his home with the video camera with his tape from his son still inside.

Courtney said the deputies found it during an unrelated arrest although Ottawa County Deputies could not confirm that is how the stolen belongings were recovered.

Courtney said a few hours later, the deputies came back with more of his stolen goods.  He’s hopeful he’ll get all of his belongings back, but is already satisfied with the work of the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department.

Allegan County Sheriff’s Deputy Cory Harris says the case remains under investigation.
