GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Wednesday will be the most pleasant day of weather around West Michigan this week, with cold air and more snow looming as the weekend approaches.

After stubborn clouds held across the region Tuesday night, skies began clearing early Wednesday morning, which will lead to a partly sunny day.  Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 30s Wednesday afternoon, with less of a breeze than earlier in the week.

An approaching area of low pressure will bring more clouds Wednesday night, with snow showers developing during the day Thursday.  Those may leave accumulations of an inch or two from Grand Rapids and Muskegon northward, but little snowfall to the south.

Behind that system, cold air will move into the Great Lakes Thursday night and Friday.  That will allow lake-effect snow to develop, but it appears right now that it will take much of the day Friday for any substantial snow to get going.  Most of the snow accumulation will likely happen from Friday night into the day Saturday, and should be confined to areas mostly west of U.S. 131.

We’ll continue to refine these details heading into the weekend — you can find the full 7 Day Forecast on the Weather page and on FOX 17 Morning News from 5:00 to 9:00 A.M.
