ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — At one point during the Friday morning commute, there were 15 vehicles struggling to stay on the pavement on 10 Mile Road between Pine Island Drive and Alpine Avenue.
Four of those vehicles crashed into one another, and 10 Mile was closed west of Pine Island Drive. There were no injuries.
The action took place shortly after 7 a.m. on a morning where expressways were fine but every other road could be slick from freezing moisture overnight.
Most traffic accidents were on suburban and country roads in Kent, Ottawa, and Muskegon counties, and many of them were vehicles in ditches. But one early morning crash on the ramp from eastbound I-196 to College Avenue left one person hurt and trapped in a vehicle.
