PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Fire crews had to cut off the doors and roof of a car to free a driver who had spun into the path of a semi on US-131 Tuesday morning.

Witnesses told FOX 17 News that the travel lanes were okay but the ramp from West River Drive to southbound US-131 was slippery.

As the woman tried to merge with traffic, she lost control. Her car spun into the path of a semi in the travel lane, and the semi dragged the car some distance before the semi driver was able to stop the rig.

Crews from the Plainfield Township Fire Department had to extricate the woman, who was unconcious and bleeding shortly after the crash. The crews removed the roof and the doors of the car.

The woman, who was conscious when she was taken from the scene, was taken to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital. The semi driver was unhurt.

The crash took place shortly after 10:30 a.m.
