Church Responds to Fire Victims

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Mt. Zion Baptist church will be collecting items for the four families affected by Tuesday’s fire.

The fire took the lives of three children, but also left others without a home.

According to a release from the church, the three remaining families will be moving into a different unit located in Interfaith Apartments on Friday, Feb. 22.

Donations of toiletries, clothing, bed and bath linens, small kitchen appliances, other kitchen items, bedroom, living room and dining room furniture will all be collected.

Those wanting to help can drop off donations between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22.

All items donated will be delivered to the families on Saturday.

The church will also be accepting cash donations to help the Wood family pay for funeral expenses.
