PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A family of five adults, two children, and a dog safely made it out of their burning home late Tuesday night.
Officials were on the scene of the structure fire in Plainfield Township at 8:51 p.m., bringing fire crews to 5646 Skyway Drive NE.
The fire chief tells FOX 17 that when they showed up, there was heavy smoke visible, and flames were spreading throughout the home. Strong gusts of wind were fanning the flames, making it difficult for crews to get control over the fire. The roof and flooring of the home also collapse, adding to the difficulties.
According to the chief, the home is considered a total loss.
The only thing of note that is likely to be salvageable is a classic car in the garage: a ’61 Thunderbird that suffered only minor smoke damage.
There were no injuries at the scene, and the American Red Cross is assisting the family.
