SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Davenport women’s basketball team advanced to the elite 8 of the NAIA division 2 tournament Friday morning beating Cardinal-Stritch 62-39.  Freshman Tiesha Stokes (Grand Rapids Catholic Central) socred 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in the victory.  “We think we got some post players who can score around the block” head coach Mike Williams said.  “If we are patient enough to get it to them, and I think we got some perimeter players that can put the ball inside, our post kids can score it.  What that does is it gets you easy baskets.  It kind of jump starts your defense.  Once we get a couple of easy baskets, everybody is full of energy and we play better defensively.”

Karli Haris scored 10 points and Kendra Cook (Paw Paw) had 9.  The Lady Panthers held the Wolves to 30% shooting form the field.

Davenport (32-2) will paly Eastern Oregon (33-2) Saturday at 2 p.m.
