GRAND RAPIDS, Mich- Grand Rapids Public School Superintendent Teresa Weatherall Neal will hold a “State of Our Schools Address” Saturday at 9:00 am.
The event takes place at the Ottawa Hills High School auditorium and the public is welcome. She is expected to address the latest offer from the school board to teachers and talk about changes to a proposed health care plan.
Earlier this week the school board presented a new contract that they say would give teachers a 2 to 4% raise, but Grand Rapids Education Association President Paul Helder says the increase does not really exist because of increased expense made to the health care plan. Both sides are hoping to get a new three-year deal done soon.
The school board says its offer is the best it can do with consideration to 20 million dollars in lost revenue over the past 10 years.
