CHESTERFIELD, Va. — A group dedicated to transparency in government has included the City of Portage, Mich., among its 2013 awards.
The Sunny Award, announced last week by the Sunshine Review, recognizes government web sites that offer information to citizens that “empowers citizens and keeps government accountable to the people,” said Michael Barnhart, President of Sunshine Review in a release announcing the Portage award.
The city’s web site received an “A” grade on providing online information on city functions and activities such as meetings, public records, contracts, lobbying, and budgets.
