INDIANAPOLIS — A student at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis spoke to affiliate WXIN as police search the campus for a possible gunman.
The Student says she took shelter in a classroom as soon as she received an emergency alert, stating a man with a “long gun” was seen on campus and everyone was ordered to seek shelter around 1pm this afternoon. The alert went out on the university’s Emergency Management Twitter account.
The student also said armed police officers entered the classroom and escorted the students out of the building.
Currently, authorities are searching for a white male, possibly armed, wearing a trench coat.
Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet High Schol is also placed on lock-down due to the incident. Also, IU Health and Riley Hospital for children are on lock-down as well.
School officials said students and staff at the school are safe, but as of 2:33pm they remain on “Full Alert”
