Resident Returns Home, Finds 2 Intruders Inside

Posted

FRUITPORT TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two men are in custody after a resident returned home and caught them in the act of robbing the place.

It happened Thursday afternoon at a home in the 4900 block of South Sheridan Drive.  Police say the resident came home to find the front door had been forced open, rooms had been ransacked, and valuables were missing.

One of the suspects ran off as soon as the resident arrived home.  The second man was still inside, and the resident ended up confronting him.  That second suspect then ran off as well.

A group of teens who had been alerted to the situation managed to stop one of the men, and waited for police to arrive and take him into custody.

A K-9 unit and additional officers soon arrived.  They were able to track the second suspect through the snow, taking him into custody.

Both men were arrested, and await arraignment.  Police say the two also have multiple prior felony convictions, and had recently been released from prison.  One is currently on parole for multiple Home Invasion offenses.

Assisting Fruitport Township Police were the Norton Shores PD, Roosevelt Park PD, Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office, and Michigan State Police.
