Police say two different cars hit Owens as he attempted to cross the street.

One of the people at the vigil was Owens’ older brother, Derek, who said, “I was really proud of who he was, and who he’d become, and where he was heading, and I’m going to miss him a lot.”

The family said funeral arrangements have been made.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday night at Lakeshore Memorial Services in Holland.

A funeral will be held the following day at 11:00am at the Real Life Fellowship also in Holland.
