Grand Rapids Mother Whose Baby Ingested Crack Arraigned Today

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — 21 year-old Stacy Gatlin, the mother responsible for her 14 month old son ingesting crack cocaine was arranged on three charges today in Kent County Circuit Court, on Second Degree Child Abuse, a 15 year felony, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, a 90 day misdemeanor and Second Offense Habitual Offender, which carries a 15-year prison sentence.

Gatlin is being held on $20,000 bond.

Her next court appearance, a preliminary exam is scheduled for April 15th.

Child Protective Services workers removed the boy March 8 from an apartment in the 800 block of Franklin Street SE, court records show.

Before the removal, police and CPS workers responded there on a report the baby might need medical treatment for cocaine ingestion.
