Couple Celebrates 75 Years Of Marriage

Posted

DEARBORN, Mich- A couple on the east side of the state has just hit their 75th wedding anniversary.

Walter and Eva Greenwood met decades ago at a YMCA in Windsor. Walter says he went right across the room to meet Eva because he was drawn to her. Eva eventually moved to Toronto and Walter would use the money he made working at a Ford plant to go see her on weekends.

After saving up their cash, the pair tied the knot in Wayne County back in 1938 and say they’ve never had a serious argument.

“I think you have to be very understanding and very trustworthy of your mate’s personality or habits,” says Eva.

“I found out she’s going to keep me, and I found out why. She said she hasn’t got time to break another one in,” jokes Walter.

The pair still live in the home they built in Dearborn 60 years ago.

As part of their anniversary celebration, the couple decided to renew their vows. As for making their love work, Walter says it’s all about saying “yes dear”.
