WEST MICHIGAN – Late Saturday evening the National Weather Service upgraded Grand River flooding in Comstock Park from minor to moderate. Flood stage is 12 feet and the current level is 13.3 feet. The river will continue to rise to near 14.2 feet by Sunday evening and should eventually fall below flood stage early Thursday morning.
At 14 feet homes along Willow Drive and Abrigador Trail have flooded basements and the Abrigador Trail is closed and impassable. Riverbank Street Northeast in Plainfield Township is flooded and many homes have flooded basements there. Konkle Drive Northeast in Plainfield Township is also flooded.
Flood Warnings are also in effect along the Grand River at Ionia, at Lowell, and in Robinson Township in Ottawa County. A Flood Warning is also in effect for the Muskegon River at Croton in Newaygo County
Several other locations are under Flood Advisories. More rain is possible Sunday night and again on Monday. Heavier rain is likely on Wednesday and again Thursday with some thunderstorms possible as well. Flooding concerns will continue to be an issue over the next week or so until levels can fall below flood stage and remain there. Make sure to stay up on later forecasts.
